I will be spammed!
Yes, it’s possible, and it does happen. Look for email privacy statements that should accompany a signup form. Lacking a policy statement, consider the overall tenor and flavor of the site. Is it a hard-sell site, or does it appear malicious?
Note that most email list service providers are more attentive to spam than we are. There should always be an unsubscribe option at the bottom of every email – you can unsubscribe at any time. The unsubscribe option is sound policy and good business practice.

I don’t want to clutter my inbox!

Here are two options: open a non-personal email account, or sign up for RSS feeds.

I don’t want to check more than one email account!
Many of us have more than one email account, and checking them all can be onerous. However,

Email is old style – I’m using RSS feeds!
RSS feeds circumvent many problems associated with emails! Get the news without disclosing your email address!
When you click the feed button on a website, you can redirect the site’s feed to a feed reader. For example, the Google feed reader can integrate multiple feeds, and you can check all the news in one place. This is worth checking out!
