Custom Search for Instructional Videos
The search for instructional videos is made easier using a Google custom search engine!
Sometimes, the best way to search is with Google, using a site-specific query in Google, e.g., “marketing:site.com”
In other cases, it’s best to use the search engine on the site.
Here are some examples, using the search query for ‘marketing’. Try out the options.
- Mobento (a video learning platform) – use the site engine
- Free Video Lectures (thousands of online videos) – use Google (or try the search engine)
- Academic Earth (compilation of university lectures) – use the site engine
- Ted Talks (Ted Talks!) – use Google! (or try Ted directly)
- Vimeo (on Google) and Vimeo (site search) – not sure which is better
- You Tube (You Tube!) – site search
The format of the Google search links above is: “https://www.google.com/#q=search+:youtube.com”, where ‘search’ is the search query. This post was inspired by the 47 Alternatives to Using You Tube in the Classroom.
